چکیده

This paper presents an investigation of cognitive ability in 30 subjects at risk for Huntington's disease. Those shown to be at high or low risk for this disease are compared on a wide range of neuropsychological measures. Results indicate only one significant difference between the two groups; those who carry the gene show a higher level ofperformance on the Corsi Supraspan task. It is suggested, however, that minimal deficits are apparent in the at risk gene carrying group but that current measures of assessment are not sensitive enough to identify them. Evidence for specific cognitive deficits in preclinical Huntington's disease.

The performance of 54 subjects genetically at risk for Huntington's disease was examined in double-blind fashion on a series of computerized tests from the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery. None of the subjects exhibited clinical movement disorder characteristic of Huntington's disease. Of the 54 subjects, 22 were Huntington's disease mutation carriers and 32 were non-carrier...

Plasma melatonin is reduced in Huntington's disease.

This study was undertaken to determine whether the production of melatonin, a hormone regulating sleep in relation to the light/dark cycle, is altered in Huntington's disease. We analyzed the circadian rhythm of melatonin in a 24-hour study of cohorts of control, premanifest, and stage II/III Huntington's disease subjects. The mean and acrophase melatonin concentrations were significantly reduc...
